Alex Selmeci and Tomáš Kocka Jusko are an artistic duo whose multidisciplinary oeuvre combines work with object and architecture, fine art, and design. In their exhibitions, they create carefully constructed environments that they have thought through completely, from the lighting to the movement of the visitors to the atmosphere that the audience will experience.
The space is a reflection and materialization of the artists’ original feeling or thought, and it frames the viewer’s interaction with the smaller works. In the same way, the objects can be the tangible arrangement of an originally vague idea. Their antecedents are preexisting objects, but they are rendered in a different way and find themselves in different contexts. It is a dialogue with various tools, devices, gadgets, and their functions and metaphors as well as a contemplation of their merits and value. This careful consideration can give rise to long cycles of objects that mirror each other. Lately the artists have also been creating realizations for the public space and for architecture, most recently, for example, the object Cievka in Bratislava.
